Health Education

The Perry County Health Department offers educational programs to groups, organizations and schools.

Program topics include:

  • CPR/First Aid Classes (Red Cross/American Heart)
  • Risk of Heart Attacks - presentation on risks of heart disease
  • Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) - is an intensive 20-hour training program designed to prepare a community for a major disaster
  • Postponing Sexual Involvement - abstinence only education/8th graders/teen leaders/school based. currently being offered at Immanuel Lutheran School, Perryville; Perryville High School, Perryville; Salem Lutheran School, Farrar; Altenburg Public School, Altenburg; and Concordia Trinity, Frohna/Altenburg
  • STD/HIV Education
  • Funtastics - is a 6-part nutrition/health program designed to teach how foods fit into the new Food Pyramid, how our bodies digest and utilize foods for optimum health, how a variety of foods in moderation provide energy to our bodies as it enhances and promotes good health. The program targets 4 and 5 graders
  • Food Handlers Course (1999 Food Codes - for food service personnel)
  • ServSafe - (National Restaurant Association Accredited Course)
